How to Prepare For Delivery and Installation:

For all major appliances, there are a general set of simple preparation tasks you can complete to ensure the delivery process is hassle-free.

  • Check the measurements of your appliances as listed on their specification sheets.
  • Carefully measure the space where your appliance will be installed to ensure your appliances will fit.
  • Measure your doorways and other tight-fitting passages, such as the space between your counters and kitchen island.
  • Walk the path that delivery staff will take to the installation location. Ensure any rugs, furniture, or other obstructions are cleared before they arrive.
  • Ensure old appliances are disconnected and removed from the installation location. Haul away services are available as an add-on to your order.
  • Ensure your outside path is free of debris, snow, or ice for the safety of both your order and our delivery staff.
  • An adult over the age of 18 must be present to sign for delivery.

Special Considerations for Different Appliance Types:

Dishwashers

  • It is strongly advised that your dishwasher be removed and/or replaced by a professional appliance installer.
  • If you are removing an old dishwasher yourself or having it hauled away, make sure to empty and unplug it. Also ensure trim, flooring, or other obstructions to the dishwasher's legs are removed before doing so.
  • Most dishwashers require a standard 120V outlet within 5 ft. of its installation location. A junction box or hard wire may be required in some cases.
  • A corrosion-free water shutoff valve with a standard metal connection should be located under your sink.
  • Existing parts cannot be used for a new dishwasher hookup, so make sure to order a dedicated dishwasher installation kit compatible with your unit (sold separately).

Refrigeration

  • It is strongly advised that your refrigerator be removed and/or replaced by a professional appliance installer.
  • If you are removing an old fridge yourself or having it hauled away, make sure to empty and unplug it before doing so.
  • Refrigerators with water and ice require a water line kit (usually sold separately).
  • Shut-off the water valve before disconnecting or installing. Water shut-off valves should be within 6 ft. to successfully install a new refrigerator.
  • Confirm your purchased fridge opens in the direction you want or has a reversible door. Left hinge units will have their handle on the right, and right hinge units will have their handle on the left. If you’re not sure if your purchased refrigerator opens the way you want, contact our Customer Service team at 877-274-2330.

Ranges

  • It is strongly advised that your range be removed and/or replaced by a professional appliance installer.
  • Existing parts cannot be used for a new range hookup, so make sure to order a dedicated range installation kit compatible with your gas or electric unit (sold separately).
  • Ensure you have an outlet with matching voltage for your range regardless of whether it is powered by electricity or gas. Gas ranges require an electrical outlet to power spark ignition, oven lights, and digital displays. If your range's power requirements do not match your existing outlet, consult an electrician to change or upgrade your outlet's voltage.
  • If you are removing an old range yourself or having it hauled away, make sure to empty and unplug it. Also ensure trim, flooring, or other obstructions to the range's legs are removed before doing so.

Special Gas Range Requirements:

  • Gas ranges require a certified installation expert to perform an installation.
  • Ensure your range is compatible with your home's fuel source (natural gas or liquid propane).

Cooktops

  • Use your new cooktop's specification sheet to confirm it will fit in your new cutout. This involves measuring the length, width, and depth.
  • It is strongly advised that your cooktop be removed and/or replaced by a professional appliance installer.

Gas and electric cooktops generally require different voltages to operate. These are the standard voltages, but always double check your specific appliance's specification sheet to confirm:

  • Gas Cooktops – 120V outlet
  • Electric and Induction Cooktops – 240V outlet

Range Hoods

  • Range hoods come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and configuration types with varying installation requirements. It is strongly advised that your range hood be removed and/or replaced by a professional appliance installer.
  • Check the ducting and electrical requirements of your range hood on its specification sheet. Most ventilation hoods use a 120V outlet.
  • Range hoods should be installed 24-30 in. above a gas cooktop or 20-24 in. above an electrical cooktop to ensure safe, efficient smoke and heat capture.
  • Always confirm your range hood's performance complies with local building codes.
  • Some hoods can be converted to recirculate air, negating the need for existing ductwork in a kitchen that may not have it.

Over-the-Range Microwaves

  • It is strongly advised that your over-the-range microwave be removed and/or replaced by a professional appliance installer.
  • Check the ducting and electrical requirements of your over-the-range microwave on its specification sheet. Most over-the-range microwaves use a 120V outlet.
  • Over-the-range microwaves should be installed 24-30 in. above a gas cooktop or 20-24 in. above an electrical cooktop to ensure safe, efficient smoke and heat capture.
  • Some over-the-range microwaves can be converted to recirculate air, negating the need for existing ductwork in a kitchen that may not have it.

Wall Ovens

  • Use your new wall oven's specification sheet to confirm it will fit in your new cutout. This involves measuring the length, width, and depth.
  • Check the electrical requirements of your wall oven on its specification sheet. Most wall ovens use a 240V outlet.
  • It is strongly advised that your wall oven be removed and/or replaced by a professional appliance installer.
  • Once you remove the old oven, use a vacuum to clean up any sawdust and debris left behind in the cabinet cutout.
  • Ensure your cabinet cutout is level, square, and structurally sound to support your new wall oven's weight.

Washers

  • It is strongly advised that your washer be removed and/or replaced by a professional appliance installer.
  • If you are removing an old washer yourself or having it hauled away, make sure to empty and unplug it. Also ensure trim, flooring, or other obstructions to the washer's legs are removed before doing so.
  • Existing parts cannot be used for a new washer hookup, so make sure to order a dedicated washer connection kit compatible with your unit (sold separately).
  • If you are installing your laundry unit in a closet, allow at least 6 in. of clearance behind it for hookups and plumbing. Also ensure the washer door will have enough clearance to fully open.
  • Make sure your washer will have enough vertical clearance if it will be mounted on a laundry pedestal accessory (sold separately).
  • Most washers require a three-prong, 110V outlet within 5 ft. of your new washer unit. Check your available hookups to confirm installation will be possible when your unit arrives.
  • Corrosion-free hot and cold water shut-off valves must be within 4 ft. of your appliance, with standard metal connections that do not require modification to work with the parts of your new unit.
  • If you are stacking a dryer on top of your washer, you must also buy a compatible stacking kit that matches both units (sold separately).
  • Please note, when bought as a side-by-side, front-loading set, your washer will almost always be on the left and your dryer on the right. This is because front loading washing machines typically have a left hinge (opening from the right) and dryers have a right hinge (opening from the left). Select brands offer these units with reversible doors that can have their hinge side switched by a qualified technician.

Dryers

  • It is strongly advised that your dryer be removed and/or replaced by a professional appliance installer.
  • If you are removing an old dryer yourself or having it hauled away, make sure to empty and unplug it. Also ensure trim, flooring, or other obstructions to the dryer's legs are removed before doing so.
  • Existing parts cannot be used for a new dryer hookup, so make sure to order a dedicated dryer connection kit and vent kit (if vented) compatible with your unit (kits sold separately).
  • If you are installing your laundry unit in a closet, allow at least 6 in. of clearance behind it for hookup, venting, and ductwork. Also ensure the dryer door will have enough clearance to fully open.
  • Make sure your dryer will have enough vertical clearance if it will be mounted on a laundry pedestal accessory (sold separately).
  • Most dryers require a three or four-prong, 220V outlet within 5 ft. of your new dryer unit. Check your available hookups to confirm installation will be possible when your unit arrives.
  • Dryers with a steam feature will often require a dedicated steam dryer hose. You can confirm if your unit utilizes this by checking its specification sheet.
  • If you are stacking a dryer on top of your washer, you must also buy a compatible stacking kit that matches both units (sold separately).
  • Please note, when bought as a side-by-side front-loading set, your washer will almost always be on the left and your dryer on the right. This is because front loading washing machines typically have a left hinge (opening from the right) and dryers have a right hinge (opening from the left). Select brands offer these units with reversible doors that can have their hinge side switched by a qualified technician.

Air Conditioners

  • For units with power ratings greater than 10,000 BTUs, it is strongly advised that your air conditioner be installed by a professional. These units are much heavier, making them difficult to install in one piece, and require a slide-out chassis. It is also recommended that your air conditioner run on its own circuit to avoid overloading your electrical connection.
  • Many air conditioners require a grounded, three-prong outlet, but always check your unit's specification sheet to confirm its electrical requirements match your home's power supply. Small air conditioners typically utilize a 110V outlet, while larger units may require 220V.
  • For window units: Remove the window screen and ensure the window opening is clear.
  • For wall units: A sleeve will be needed to help your wall support the weight of your unit.
