Significant rust in just 11 months.

My wife and I love the kettle initially. We used it daily. It worked great and looked great...for 11 months. Less than 1 year after our purchase, significant rust has formed at the bottom of the kettle. Water poured out of the kettle is BROWN. Very disappointed in the quality of this product :(

Serious Design Flaws - cause health issues

I bought this last year (and was very happy with the looks of it) to boill water to make daily cup of tea. The otherday, for some reason, I decided to look inside and to my horror and shock saw rust all over where the sprout is welded to the main body. So, I have been drinking tea with a rusted water, and God knows for how long! I am shocked and disappointed that such a reputable company, with a worldwide brand known for quality products, would produce such sub-standard product and take chances with people's health! I'm not a doctor so don't know the short and long term effects of drinking rust contaminated tea. I think the company should withdraw the product till they fix the rust problem!

CAUTION!! SAFETY issue!

This is my second exact same kettle, the first one failed with a cracked handle, thought it was me, bought another one, in Empire Red again to match rest of my KitchenAid appliances, and the same thing happened again! The handle cracked again! I always do fill it up to the top and carry it to the stove but it seems the handle can't handle (no pun intended) the full weight of the water! If you notice the crack stop using it immediately! Otherwise you will end up with second degree burns from it all crashing at your feet!

Rusty!?!

Lasted one year. Awful mechanical design.

The design puts all the weight of the water on one handle mount point which torques back and forth. First the paint cracked where the handle attaches, then it rusted, and now the metal piece which attaches to the plastic handle is breaking off of the pot-you can see light through the crack. Considering the price, this is pathetic. Too bad, it was pretty while it lasted.

dangerous!!!

I received this kettle as a Christmas gift this year. Other than it being heavy I have enjoyed it until today. I put the kettle on with water, and a few minutes later I heard a large buzzing sound, I looked to the stove and saw a huge plume of steam. I moved the pot to a different burner and noticed water leaking into that burner. The kettle had corroded on the bottom and there were holes in it. The burner it was on was cracked and broken and water had leaked all over it also. There were burn marks around the edges of the burner. This could have been a potentially deadly situation.

So disapointed

I bough this kettle at the beginning of this year, payed around $60 and hoped that it will last loooong. This never happened. It was not bad at all at the beginning, but after one month the handle started to come off. Whistle stopped whistling at the same time. I was still using it because I decided I will give it a chance and whistle will be back. And last week I noticed a corrosion under the handle and this week it totally came off. What a despoilment as I love this brand and was hoping this kettle will last at liest one year or more. What do I do now, keep buying Kitchenaid or switch to another brand???? Other devices work pretty well, though I don't use them daily.

cute but designed for extra light use

This is a very cute kettle. However, it has a weakness in the kettle handle. I have been using the kettle for less than a week and the handle is loose. Because of how the unit is made, I cannot see how the handle is attached to the unit and therefore cannot fix it, not that I think it's fixable. Kitchen Aid used to make good products, so I took a chance even though they mostly buy Asian products and sell them.

I have just purchased the KitchenAid 2.0-Quart Kettle with C Handle and Trim Band in the color red and it is a great buy. I am a 66-year-old man and the Kettle has that masculine look and is perfect for my red/black & white Kitchen. It heats water fast and the finger release valve is easy to pour the boiling water out without danger of burning yourself. It is just a perfect, distinguished looking kettle.

Interior coating disintegrating

I bought this is April and half the interior coating has disintegrated and gone (did I drink it?). I just contacted Kitchen Aide, and I am hopeful they have a solution for this. Other than the coating- its worked great.

Good Customer Sevice

I've owned this tea kettle for six weeks and the porcelain is starting to crack and break away where the handle connects to the kettle. After looking inside, I noticed the same damage was occurring from the loose handle. I should have purchased the kettle with a handle that connects at both ends. The balance is slightly off and the added stress may cause structural damage. I contacted the Service Desk and they immediately sent a replacement tea kettle with 30-day trial and full one year warranty.

It works ok

I got one last year as a Christmas present, and have used it almost daily since. However about a month ago I realized it wasnt whistling anymore. I got looking at it, and the metal piece that seals the spout had shifted, easy enough fix I just pushed it back into place. Yesterday when I made my tea the metal piece fell out. I shoved it back in, and figured it was not a big deal. Today as soon as I opened the spout the metal piece shot out, and flew across my stove. I shoved it back in again. The kettle works, but I dont think it's worth the hassle of adjusting and putting the spout cover back together.

I purchased the tea kettle about a week ago. I was reluctant to get a yellow one, but it was on sale with a significant savings. The quality appears good and the kettle has a nice feel to it . Once I placed it on top of my stove, the color looked like it belonged. I'm glad I went with it.

It's beautiful!

My previous tea kettle was the same brand. I must have had it 15 years. I left it on the stove when we went to a movie, and suddenly realized it. After an hour and a half of it being on high, the kettle didn't cause a fire, and I was extremely grateful that our house didn't burn down! I will never own another brand of tea kettle in my life! These are very durable.

doesn't whistle, now it's ruined

it's very very pretty and I have a lot of other red kitchenaid stuff I got from my wedding but it doesn't really whistle- the seal on the spout stopper isn't really tight enough to make the steam go through the hole and whistle. So usually I just hang out and watch it when I need to use it. Today I got a call from my dr. (so I really needed to take it )and completely forgot the kettle- which wouldn't be a big deal if it made noise. The only noise it DID make was when it set off the smoke detector. The paint on the bottom is melted, the handle on the lid is melted, and oddly enough, it still has water in it?? What in the world. I love this kettle, it's beautiful, but it needs to make noise for someone to be able to walk away from it. So don't do that.

Two-handed teakettle

This is a beautiful teakettle that whistles reliably when your water is hot. It is stylish and solid. But I cannot give a top rating to a product that comes with a warning not to leave it on a glass cooktop when hot because it could fuse to the glass. Thank goodness I actually read the directions! The other shortcoming is design. It is impossible to pour water with one hand. The spout top is not attached to the handle as it is in other models. I have average-sized hands and can't figure out any way to open the spout and pour with one hand without spilling. A serious shortcoming.

Two-handed Teakettle

This is a beautiful teakettle that whistles up a storm and holds the heat. But the design makes it all but impossible to pour without two hands -- the lever on the spout isn't attached to the handle, so you can't just flick it like you would with some other teakettles. If I attempt to use it one-handed, I invariably spill. Not good. Another caution: The instructions include this warning: "Overheating can make kettles with porcelain enamel bottoms fuse to the surface of glass cooktop ranges, requiring replacement of the glass cooktop. Do not leave the kettle on a glass cooktop; remove it, and place on a heat-resistant surface such as a cutting board." I'm glad for the warning, but find this to be a serious shortcoming -- and for people who don't customarily read the instructions, beware! This could be one costly cuppa tea.

KitchenAid truly is a Kitchen Aid

KitchenAid truly is a Kitchen Aid. 2.0-Quart Kettle with C Handle and Trim Band is unique to me, from the color which is not done justice by online picture to the styling for both appearance and usage. I would recommend to family or friend for purchase and in the case that I should ever need another Kettle I will purchase a KitcheAid brand product. The main worry I have is that a customer will not read the instructions and heed the warning of porcelain enamel bottom fusing to a glass cooktop range. Perhaps this is a warning that should be placed/engraved on kettle and on as many places as possible from box to stickers hanging from kettle, etc... I would not want to see or hear of anyone especially an older person being hurt or having to shell out additional monies for something (glass cooktop) by their own (non-reading) fault and when the company could possibly take a couple of extra steps in reminder notifications.

I love the addition to my kitchen, both because it is easy to use and because it looks nice without being "over decorative". I use it for more things than just drinks and it is a good demonstration to small children with the little "I'm a little teapot" song. You can tell I'm a former 1st grade teacher!

This kettle looks awesome just sitting on my stove top. I have the red with silver trim, very happy with the way it matches my kitchen. It boils very quickly and make a happy whistle to let you know that it is ready. The tid is firmly tight and takes a good pull to remove, I consider that a good thing, you don't want to fall off when pouring. It cleans easily inside and out. Pretty and practicable!

A fabulous tea kettle!

We use this tea kettle 5 or 6 times a day -- adding to a French press coffee pot, individual servings of instant coffee, tea, hot chocolate and oatmeal. We use it in the morning and at night. I also love the bright color which adds a bit of cheer to the day!

I really have enjoyed this KitchenAid 2.0-Quart Kettle with C Handle and Trim Band. It boils quickly, has a nice tea pot sound, and wipes clean very easily. I really like how the handle will fit over the faucet, so I can leave it alone to fill itself! Also, it matches my other KitchenAide products beautifully.

Doesn't whistle, so sad

I drink hot tea several times a day and recently needed a new kettle. We chose the pyrite color and loved the look of it. But it doesn't whistle. At all. Tons of steam escapes because the nozzle doesn't close tightly enough and since it doesn't whistle, I am afraid I will forget it's on the stove. Really disappointed. But I didn't keep my receipt last month when we bought it. So I guess I'm in the market again.

Heats well and quickly. The whistle is not obnoxious and it looks gorgeous on my gas stove.

great kettle loved it

I bought this kettle 2 weeks ago. I would had rate it a 5 star but since the kettle wouldn't whistle when it came to boil I didn't rate it a 5. I contacted kitchen aid under the warranty it has and they send me a new one and it works fine and I love it. Really nice and good grip handle.
